Bio: Michelle Alexander has been working in the Sacramento region’s creative sector for over 10 years. Alexander initially worked behind the scenes of the music industry and arts community with radio and print media organizations Entercom Radio and the Sacramento News and Review. In 2008 Alexander took on the position of Executive Director at the Arts and Business Council, managing all aspects of the nonprofit chapter of Americans for the Arts. In 2010, Alexander was tapped by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson to lead the For Art’s Sake Initiative as Chair of Investing in Talent and the Creative Economy and as Project Manager in January 2012. In June 2012 she launched the Sacramento region’s first “Flywheel” Creative Economy Incubator to serve 10 artists, nonprofits and small creative companies. She is infinitely passionate about seeing the Sacramento region become a hub for creative and artistic endeavors. Alexander currently consults on creative sector advocacy, business management for arts professionals, nonprofit technology, online giving and social media.
