On behalf of Americans for the Arts, I would like to thank all of our readers for stopping by to celebrate Arts in Education Week by reading all the posts of our fantastic bloggers throughout the week. Having organized two of these events now, I can say that the content is just getting better and better.

Here is just a sample of all of the topics covered by our intrepid bloggers this time around: national standards; research; technology & pedagogy; collaboration; assessment; innovation; advocacy; school districts/leadership; and reform.

But to put things into the complete perspective, I copied and pasted all of the blog posts into a word cloud website and came up with the words that were used the most in all of the posts (and unlike Wordle, Tagxedo even lets you pick the shape of your cloud).

The results showed that the words most often used in the posts were arts, education, school, programs, learning, students, teachers, and assessment.

To view the entire cloud, visit http://bit.ly/blogcloud.

However, our job isn’t over. Not by a long shot.

Even while reading over my news alerts this morning, mixed in with articles discussing Arts in Education Week were a few articles about the impact of school budget cuts and teacher re-assignments, etc. I had hoped and prayed that those stories would at least go away for our first national week of celebration for all of the arts disciplines, but that was clearly just a pipe dream.

So, where does that leave us? I hope it prepares you to take action.

Over the next several months, we will continue to ask you to take action and pledge to support arts education in your respective communities. We’ll have tools and resources to help you prepare to testify on behalf of arts education in your own communities.

Just make the pledge and we’ll let you know when new tools are ready, and remind you to put your March school board meeting on your calendars as we get closer.

Thanks again for your participation and if you’d like to share our Salon articles with others, all of our posts are easily accessible at http://blog.artsusa.org/tag/salon-sept-10/.
