Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely.

The arts in schools are not (should not) about creating the next actor, the next painter, the next violinist. The technical skill. It's about creating a manner in which students can form real world skills: self expression, communication, critical thinking, emotional maturity, team building, and confidence. These are what students need to succeed.

When I see the arts in action in schools, the impact it can have is unbelievable. It can change a student's life.

When I see the arts maligned and sneered at by boards, by admins, by teachers it breaks my heart. Because they see it as frivolous and unquantifiable.

And thank you for that definition of revolution. It gives new perspective to the word.
