The National Arts and Humanities Month website is fresh with new content in anticipation of October’s activities. One of the new features is the National Arts and Humanities Month Events Map. The Wayfaring website hosts user-generated Google maps that track everything from the best places to go ice fishing to art district walking tours.
Americans for the Arts is encouraging you to share your NAHM events by using the map and create your own Waypoints. After the jump is a short tutorial to get you started.
How to use the National Arts and Humanities Month Events Map
1. Sign-up to Wayfaring at www.wayfaring.com
2. Visit the National Arts and Humanities Month Events Map at www.wayfaring.com/maps/show/39447. Recommended browser for viewing: Firefox or Safari.
3. Check out local arts and culture events in your community and across the nation by clicking on the Waypoints listed on the right of your screen.
4. Add yourself to the map, by clicking “Add me to map” under the People heading.
5. Add your event in three, easy steps:
- Click “Edit Map”
- Under the “Compose” tab, click “Add a Waypoint” and follow the instructions. This is a marketing tool, so be sure to include the necessary and accurate information about your event. YouTube and Google videos can be embedded under “Description” and photos can be included once the Waypoint is saved.
- To post your event listing, click “Done” and then “Save Map.” Your Waypoint will appear on the map’s main page.
6. Leave a comment just to say, “Hi.”
7. Share the map on your blog or website, and be sure to send it to a friend.
Americans for the Arts staff serves as the map’s moderator. We have the authority to edit posted information. For assistance or to have your event included, e-mail nahm@artsusa.org.
