We at Americans for the Arts are having some fun about the office getting really excited about heading to Las Vegas for the Risk & Reward Annual Convention , so we started to kick around a list of “must see Vegas movies” to watch between now and the end of the month. Of course “Lucky You” is currently showing in a theater near you, but maybe you want to rent some of the movies below  {in no particular order….}

If the list below gets you excited, you will want to make sure you are registered for Convention before it closes this Friday, May 18.

  • Casino. (1995). Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci. Martin Scorcese (Dir.)
  • The Cooler. (2003). William H. Macy, Alec Baldwin
  • Viva Las Vegas. (1964). Elvis Presley. Gotta see The King in Vegas!
  • Oceans Eleven. (2001).  George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts…

  • Rain Man. (1988). Tom Cruise. Dustin Hoffman. Technically not set in Vegas, but has that classic card counting scene.
  • National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation. (1997). Where haven’t the Griswold’s conquered?
  • One from the Heart (1982). Francis Ford Coppola’s financial equivalent of Kevin Costner’s “Waterworld.”
  • CSI (TV). The creators show you a whole different side of Vegas. Now in its 7th season.
  • Las Vegas (TV).  Low on content, high on eyecandy [it's Vegas afterall]. Now in its 4th season.

    We can’t forget the classic Bond film “Diamonds are Forever” (1971) with Sean Connery and the Bond spoof “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” (1997) with Mike Myers.

    One of the all time Vegas classics - Indecent Proposal (1993) - this was the Demi before Ashton. And one of my favorites - Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek and Mathew Perry (1997).
